The Misix Movie Quality Index decreased this past weekend by 1.38 points (to 65.60) as a result of some underperforming opening movies. The Three Musketeers (43.79), this week’s anchor, and Johnny English Reborn (54.37) did not open terribly strong in terms of rating or in revenue. The other movie that opened this week Paranormal Activity 3 (66.48) fared much better in ratings and was highest grossing movie for the weekend. Moneyball (87.17), 50/50 (81.41) and The Ides of March (73.58) continue to keep the overall index elevated. The decrease in the overall index this weekend was not enough to push the index below the average rate (62.02), indicating that the top 10 movies for this weekend were well above average in quality and entertainment. This would be considered a good week to see a movie. There are several solid choices with only one real dud.
