November 18-20, 2011

Despite having a financial blockbuster this week, a movie that garners more than 60 percent of the top ten movie revenues for the weekend, the Misix Movie Quality Index decreased by 1.81 points to 57.90.  The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (46.04) earned 64.82 percent of the total revenue of the top 10 movies this weekend; turns out very few people enjoyed it.  Happy Feet Two (54.30) also came out this weekend to less than stellar ratings.  The George Clooney film The Descendants (83.43) opened this weekend to the top ratings but also the least revenue generated by a top 10 movie.  Puss In Boots (72.98) continued its strong performance and A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas (67.90) was the third highest rated movie for this weekend.  This weekend’s anchor was, again, the Adam Sandler masterpiece Jack and Jill (23.87).  With the decrease this weekend, the overall index remained below its average (62.00) and the revenue adjusted index was at its lowest (48.86) since its development. These two things indicate that the top 10 movies were not a good buy for the first time in six weeks.
