The Misix Movie Quality Index rebounded this week as a result of strong performances from new releases. The Muppets (83.91), Arthur Christmas (76.24) and the Martin Scorsese directed Hugo (87.43) helped the index increase by 6.17 points to 64.07, bringing the index back above the average (62.07). The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 (45.04) and Happy Feet Two (52.56) continued to pull the revenue adjusted index (62.26) below the unadjusted index as people spent their money on these poorly rated movies. The George Clooney film The Descendants (83.35) continued to experience poor financial performance despite being rated one of the top films at the box office. For the third week in a row, the Adam Sandler masterpiece Jack and Jill (23.87) was the anchor. With the increase this weekend, the overall index indicates that the top 10 movies were a relatively good buy for the week.
