The Misix Movie Quality Index decreased 1.29 points from the previous week to 61.35 as two of the four newcomers to the top 10, Safe (59.64) and The Raven (47.39), had subpar ratings. The other two additions, The Pirates! Band of Misfits (71.90) and The Five-Year Engagement (63.67), were well-received at the box office. Once again, the highest-grossing flick of the weekend, Think Like a Man (53.89), was also one of the worst. The anchor of the week was the repeat offender, The Lucky One (42.04), a romance about an Iraq war veteran searching for his good luck charm woman, starring the dreamy Zac Efron. The Hunger Games (74.16) remained in the top four and continues to prop the overall index up. The last of the top 10 was the highest-rated movie of the weekend, the horror-thriller The Cabin in the Woods (78.16). The revenue-adjusted movie quality index increased 2.30 to 60.27 in large part to those poorly rated newcomers also having poor financial openings, minimizing their revenue-adjusted impact. Though the movie quality index remains near average, there are still some good movies in theaters this week.
