The Misix Movie Quality Index picked up 0.72 points this weekend to 62.07 with the arrival of the blockbuster The Avengers (81.64). Not only did the sci-fi adventure flick have the highest rating of any movie in the top-ten, it also grossed over $200 million, making it the biggest domestic debut ever. This caused the revenue-adjusted movie quality index to skyrocket to 78.19, up nearly 18 points from the previous weekend. In fact, the only weekend the revenue-adjusted movie quality index was higher was July 18th of last year, when Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2 debuted. There were no other new-comers to the top ten, and the only film to leave was the highly-rated The Cabin in the Woods. The Pirates! Band of Misfits (75.83) was the second highest rated movie and The Hunger Games (73.91) stayed on the list for the seventh straight weekend. The Lucky One (42.30) was once again the anchor of the weekend. If you went to the theater this weekend, chances are you saw The Avengers and were pleased.
